Goodbye 2013
"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr. Suess
I’ve been a bit absent this past months, and I’m really
sorry about that. I’ve been busy, but that’s no excuse. We all know that the
real reason I haven’t updated is pure, raw procrastination. I'll post more later, but right now I've got to get one more post out before the clock hits 12, and 2013 is over.
So here I am, just minutes before the New Year. This will be my 16th New Years, the
fourth country I’ve celebrated it in, but the very first without my family.
During Thanksgiving I let that bother me, but not now. I've come pretty far since then, and though I miss my family more than anything, I know they are celebrating the new year with me, no matter how far away it may be.
2013 started , and is now ending, with YES Abroad. I turned my application in on the very first of January, and now here I am on the very last day of the year in Morocco.
Thanks to all of you, and I mean ALL OF YOU, I've had an amazing 2013. I'm beyond thankful for everyone back home supporting me, and for everyone here in Morocco that welcomed me in. You've all been so great, and I couldn't do this without you.
2013 was my time to settle in, my time to get used to my
surroundings. Now it’s 2014 and I’m ready. I’ve got no more excuses. There’s 6
months left and I’m going to live them to the fullest.
